Royal Canadian Mint Coin & Stamp Sets
Coin & stamp sets are where the worlds of stamp collecting and numismatics collide as these sets contain both coins in varying denominations as well as accompanying stamps in varying denominations. The coins and stamps in a set will generally have a common theme. There are approximately 30+ different coin and stamp sets that have been produced by the Royal Canadian Mint in conjunction with Canada Post since 1998. The sets are of varying themes including animals, the signs of the zodiac, and various commemorative occasions.
Chinese Lunar CalendarThe Royal Canadian Mint and Canada Post came together to produce a series of all 12 of the Lunar animals – Tiger (1998), Rabbit (1999), Dragon (2000), Snake (2001), Horse (2002), Sheep (2003), Monkey (2004), Rooster (2005), Dog (2006), Pig (2007), Rat (2008), and Ox (2009). Each animal appears in a circular arrangement around the rim of each coin, with a different animal highlighted each year in a central cameo. Each coin was produced in sterling silver with a face value of $15 and varying mintages.
