Canadian Wildlife Series Silver Bullion Coins
After the success of the 1/2 ounce pure silver timber wolf in 2006 the Royal Canadian Mint decided to start a wildlife series in 2011. The coins in the series are 1 troy ounce of .9999 pure silver with a $5 face value, similar to a silver maple leaf. 2011 saw the mintage of a timber wolf and grizzly coin, while 2012 saw the mintage of a moose and a cougar coin. Each 1 ounce coin has a mintage of 1,000,000, while the original 1/2 ounce coin had a mintage of roughly 107,000. 2013 continues the evolution of the wildlife series of bullion coins with the introduction of the 1 1/2 ounce pure silver $8 polar bear.
